Painting Monsters with Turner Acryl Gouache

Few Months back I got myself a gorgeous set of Turner Acryl Gouache, and I have been experimenting with them a lot. I was down with cold and all I could think of was to draw the monsters!

Materials (You can find all of these on Amazon):

  • Moleskine Watercolor Album (link points to Italian website, I picked this one up in Florence!)  – http://bit.ly/2F3E2sn
  • Turner Acryl Gouache (Link points to Jackson’s art supplies, picked this one from London!) – http://bit.ly/2FvVfZg
  • Uni-Ball Signo White Gel pen (from good old Austria) – http://amzn.to/2HKhHil
  • Micron Pens (and these are from the US, because they are the cheapest there!)

Watercolor Bookmarks

Hello there!

Ever since I discovered the liquid watercolors, I have been painting random things with the wet-on-wet technique. When my husband told me that he keeps losing his bookmarks, I jumped at the opportunity to paint some bookmarks for him. Here is a timelapse video of me painting bookmarks using liquid watercolors.

Yesterday was an absolutely amazing sunny day. I took a trip to a nearby lake, took some pictures..Had to return after a while because it started getting quite cold..

Here it is, the beautiful lake union, shimmering in sunlight 🙂

I could just cover 5% of this beautiful place…Will go there again, some day..

When I’m not roaming around clicking pictures, I’m working on my crochet blanket and teaching myself to work with pastels. Need to work a lot on learning to blend the colors.. The edges are still sharp..

I wasn’t too happy with the light purple block.. So, I changed the pattern to granny square and added a bit green to it.. When I lay it down on the floor, I felt I should have added white instead. But its too late now, I have finished all 8 blocks and that’s too much of work.

Few weeks back I found out Seattle had a library..So, I got myself a library card!!:) I love books..This library has a very good collection of books on art and crafts too!

That’s my library card, isn’t that cute?  They had lots of designs, I just loved this one.. I guess its probably meant for young members 🙂

I just can’t wait to finish these and rush back to the library to get more awesome books 🙂

Space Needle

My favorite building in Seattle – The Space Needle… You can see it from almost everywhere in Seattle… I have a beautiful view from my apartment and I never get tired of looking at it or clicking pictures of it.. .Call me crazy if you want, but I’m truly in love with it :P.

Space needle resembles the buildings in science fiction movies and cartoons set in 2050. Looks like an alien space shuttle parked on a huge pole 🙂

For anybody who hasn’t heard about it, here’s the wiki link :  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Needle

Here’s a picture of it when the visibility was very low:

This time, much clearer:

The SN looked amazing when they fired fireworks on Jan 1st to celebrate the New year.

I couldn’t think of a better subject for my next watercolor experiment ..SO, here it is, Space needle in watercolor (my version)  .. 🙂

Ever since I moved to my new home, all  I have been doing is order things online!

Back home I had a huge collection of yarns, needles, colors of various types -acrylic,watercolor,poster color, crayons, oil paints, oil pastels, metallic colors,3D tubes, mediums, paint brushes, drawing and painting sheets, charcoal pastels/pencils,crochet needles and much more…

Since there is a weight limit on the luggage, I had to leave all those things behind 😦 😦

So, what would a person staying all day at home,in a new town, who had earlier been crafty ,Do? Yeah, that’s what I have been doing so far…

Seeing the beautiful scenes outside my window , I was tempted to paint.. So I ordered these oil pastels and watercolor.. It took me ages to select as I have no idea what brands are actually considered good here.. It’ll take a pretty long time to figure out which ones are really good..So, for now, I guess I’ll have to work with the ones that I have ….

I ordered these Reeves watercolor tubes on amazon.com..

The colors are not that great for the price..I guess its ok for kids, but I guess its toxic, so thats a no no…

I did this trial painting (copied a picture from a pencil shading book)… The colors are too bright, it was difficult to blend… In short, don’t like this brand so much..

Its a 18 color set…

This could definitely have been better… Now that I know the colors, I can hope to make my next paintings better…

I also got these Oil Pastels from Pro Art.. I haven’t got a chance to test them yet, but they seem to be pretty good.. Hopefully I won;t be disappointed…

Today seems to be like any other day, quite uneventful…. Here I am, relaxing on my bean bag, thinking about so many things I have to tend to…

I have these 200 odd photos on my phone, which are taking up quite an amount of space.. I tried to delete few but each one seemed close to my heart some way or the other and I didn’t have the heart to delete it (I have a copy on my laptop, but still I want it on my phone!!! )… Anyways, I found these pics which I had clicked a long time ago, and let me tell you, I love photopgraphing things… I just have a basic camera now, but I plan to get a high end camera sometime in near future.

Here are the pics:

The view from my apartment.. Twilight!!

Snake that crawled into our backyard…Look at the markings on its skin, Isn’t it beautiful?

My favorite headphones and the wooden bangle that I hand painted….

Roses and Kareena!! Both beautiful!!

Yummy chocolates against yummy crochet! What do I choose?!

Well, thats all I have right now.. I also found few pictures of crochet in there:

A sock in progress!

Crochet table top which is still in progress……….

A basket weave scarf

Received a gift today :)

Look what my boyfriend sent me ! These things were shipped by amazon, all the way from US in a beautiful package 🙂 🙂 …. Guess what you’ll see me googling in the next few days – How to- Charcoal drawings!! And here again I’m aware of the basics, but I wanna know how to use these materials… I loveeee the gift soo much 🙂

The Left one is square charcoal pastels (a box of 12)…. The one at the right is Royal Langnickel charcoal drawing set which contains charcoal sticks and pencils…I love the right one as I can see a variety of things in it.. I can’t wait to start drawing/painting!!! I’m already googling it parallelly ! 🙂

Here are the contents of the Drawing set:

These are the contents  of the other box:

Old memories..cont……

I also found some knitting samples and some painted stuff:

This is embroidery work done on a black cloth, which was supposed to be then stitched as a table cloth. I think the stitch used here is a form of spider wheel (I have very less knowledge about the names given to the stitches)
